When it comes to managing your energy, your work life and your home life are inextricably linked. If there is something that is upsetting or draining at work, is there any doubt that it affects your energy at home? Well, the same is true in reverse.
The first step in her process was to reflect on her values and her behavior in order to uncover a gap. The next step was to notice when she fell short of her values and ask herself the question, “What is going on with me that I am defaulting to talking negatively about someone else?”
While self care sounds sensible and practical on its face, it is not always easily done or intuitive particularly in the face of stress and high demand. I encourage you to make this your priority.
Far too often, we assume that there is no room for feelings in the workplace. Nonsense. Human beings may be the only creatures with the capacity to think logically, but we are largely run by our emotions and they shift frequently, often subconsciously.
