What The Energy Audit® measures

Capacity

Can people sustain the demands of their work?

Capacity reflects the energy people draw on and renew across four dimensions, revealing whether people have the resources to meet demands without continually depleting their reserves.

Physical Energy

Sleep, movement, nutrition, and rest that sustain stamina.

Emotional Energy

Emotional awareness, stress recovery, and supportive relationships.

Mental Energy

Focus, prioritization, and space for clear thinking and new ideas.

Spiritual Energy

Connection to values, purpose, and meaningful contribution.

Effectiveness

Can people deliver results as demands shift?

Workplace Effectiveness reflects how successful people are at delivering results in the face of complexity, demand, and change, both as individual contributors and in collaboration with others.

Agility

Managing reactions, considering other perspectives, maintaining a growth mindset, and responding to setbacks, whatever form the challenge takes.

Collaboration

Team commitment, elevating others, and managing feedback, the everyday interactions that move work forward or get in its way.

Your engagement survey gives you a number.

An engagement survey delivers a clear signal of how motivated, satisfied, and connected employees are to the organization. The Energy Audit gives meaning to that number with clarity into the root causes and tangible practices people can start influencing directly.

An engagement survey might ask...
The Energy Audit explores...
“The amount of stress in my job is manageable.”
Whether people are renewing their energy, protecting their focus, and drawing on support to meet ongoing demands.
“The meetings I attend are run effectively.”
Whether people make room for others' contributions, engage in constructive feedback, and stay focused on shared priorities.
“We do a good job of sharing knowledge across different teams.”
Whether people contribute to collective outcomes, elevate others, and consider perspectives beyond their own.
“People on my team adapt effectively when priorities change.”
How people manage their reactions, consider different perspectives, and respond to setbacks.

One assessment. Two levels of insight.

An organizational picture for leaders

An aggregated, anonymized dashboard highlights strengths and pressure points across the workforce. Leaders can examine results across the full population or selected groups based on their purview. A finance lead, for example, sees only their own function's results.

Organizations can also view results by location, division, function, seniority, or leader status. To protect anonymity, results are shown only for groups that meet the minimum size threshold.

A personal profile for every employee

People are drawn to learning more about themselves. Unlike other organizational assessments, The Energy Audit gives every respondent their own energy profile.

The profile helps employees translate insight into changes they can make in their daily lives and work, and includes scores across capacity and effectiveness, the clearest opportunities for improvement, and a recommended place to start.

Capacity and Workplace Effectiveness create a fuller picture.

The Energy Audit shows both the capacity people can draw on and how effective they are at work, both individually and with others. Together, these results reveal four patterns, each pointing to a different place to focus support.

Sustainable High Performer

High Capacity, High Effectiveness

Capacity and effectiveness are both strong. People are building and renewing energy while expressing it through collaboration and agility. The priority is to sustain the practices and conditions supporting both.

Untapped Potential

High Capacity, Low Effectiveness

Capacity is available, but it is not consistently showing up in collaboration and agility. Explore what may be limiting its expression, including team dynamics, opportunities, and ways of working.

Running on Reserves

Low Capacity, High Effectiveness

Effectiveness is ahead of capacity. People are continuing to collaborate and adapt, but their underlying capacity may not be keeping pace with the demands on them. Without renewal, that pattern is difficult to sustain.

Depleted

Low Capacity, Low Effectiveness

Building capacity makes it easier to deliver effectively in the workplace, as an individual contributor and in collaboration with others. Identifying energy drains to address can be a good place to start.

Turn insight into action.

The Energy Audit gives leaders a clearer starting point for investment and employees a practical starting point for change. Findings can inform personal practices, leader development, team habits, and broader organizational decisions.

PeopleFuel® builds individual energy practices, while LeaderFuel® equips leaders to support their teams. Consulting, coaching, and targeted programs can address broader challenges involving collaboration, courage, and resilience.

The Audit can be repeated over time to see how scores and patterns change after action is taken.

Bring The Energy Audit

Design an Energy Audit pilot for your organization.

A pilot lets you experience the Energy Audit's findings with a defined group before expanding across the organization. Together, we'll decide who to include, which demographic views and metrics matter most, and how the findings can support work already underway or inform future initiatives. What you learn will help shape a broader rollout around the insights your leaders need.
